Pearl Ijeoma Ezeokeke also known as OluwaPearl OlorunGemstone NwaChinemelu

In my bios, I always put a quote; ‘This above all; to thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man. ~Shakespeare~’

This is one saying I believe so much amongst others. There is a whole list, I tell ya!

But the first thing you should know about me is that I love God with all my heart, mind, soul and body. I believe He sent His son, Jesus, to die for me. Everything I do (and write) stems from that. He has shown me so much love, how can I not love Him back? He blessed me with life abundantly, siblings to die for and beautiful friends with very large hearts. I live to His glory.

The other thing you should know is that I love Mr. Allison…

Mr Allison & I

I am the 2nd child of the 5 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Okechukwu Ezeokeke of Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata in Anambra state.

Ijeoma, Obianuju, Obinna, Chidinma & Adaora

The 2 lepa shandies on the right are married. They got married last year and one has blessed me with a cute and bubbly nephew. The other 2 babes on the left are taken… Then we await the gal oga will bring for us to scrutinize and assess before we say yay or nay.

I started this blog because as Adichie said, we should all tell our stories. I want to tell my stories. I have a voice and I must use it.

I put this photo up just because I can and because she’s terribly pretty 😀

I love music and like my friend, Tolu Akinyemi says in No Wonder She’s Called a Pearl, I kinda like almost all genres and I go further than just gospel, God help me (crosses self). I love rap, rhythm and blues, hip hop and country. There’s just something about Country music my friends. If you don’t know what it is, then you must find a way to experience it. Country music, like I read somewhere, is 3 chords and the truth. I mean have you heard LeAnn Womack’s I Hope You Dance?

I love watching movies too. I like to rewind (abi na replay) a lot so my siblings always groan whenever they watch a movie with me. Ayam the one that told them to watch with me, ehn? Ayam the one? Mschewwww.

I absolutely love reading novels. And of course they have to be romantic, but I also enjoy a lot of Sidney Sheldon’s books and any novel that can get me thinking. Awon suspense, thriller gbogbo e sha, you get my drift. Lately, I have come to enjoy Nigerian writers. I discovered them about 2 years ago and I have been buying and reading a number of them since – most of all is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Imagine my joy when I found out that ‘Chimamanda’ is not a funkified English-Igbo name but an Igbo name through and through translated ‘My God will not fail/fall’. Even my dad, the most Igbotic of Igbo men thought it was a funkified name too. Imagine my deep satisfaction and pride when I corrected him and ‘explained’ it to him… hehehehehe *mischievous evil grin*

I live by certain ‘rules’ starting with the ones in the Bible. I don’t believe in sex outside marriage. I try as much as possible to do unto others as I would done to me; even if it means that it may never be done unto me as I have done to others, I still find pleasure in treating people the way I would want to be treated. I want to change people’s lives; I want to be different from the norm. I want to show people that not everyone in the world is out to get them; I want to show and give as much love as I can.

I intend to be reliable and true to my word, to be on time and to have a strong work ethic. I will be a good wife to my husband and be there for my children, so help me God.

I am a very quiet person although a lot of friends might say otherwise but the truth is I actually am quiet… I think. Anyhow sha, I like to observe people – their reactions/responses, their carriage, the way they relate to people in and outside their social class, the way they talk, the way they think and some of the stupid things they do. You should try it sometime, it really is interesting.

And yes, I am one of those gadget-loving people. Phones, laptops, sound systems, TVs, CD players, tablets just name it. I love playing with them, see what they can do and what they can’t do. I do not like to be kept waiting, I do not like being lied to or falsely accused. I do not like being looked down on or lumped with a group of people by ‘generalizationists’. I do not like being interrupted when I am watching a movie or reading a good book.

So what more shall I tell of?

Ehen, yes, I like ironing. I love giving gifts as I am able. I love surprises as much as I love surprising people.

This is me, this is who I am and this here is my blog. God bless you all and many thanks for stopping by :D.

Questions anyone?

I hate ironing though. While I enjoy washing. What’s weird about this is that the reverse was the case about 5yrs back.

    Nice to ‘meet’ you, Pearl.

  7. Well done Pearl,

Leann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” was a poignant musical track. The words were to live for! 🙂 I really enjoyed it. Thanks for that.

You paint a beautiful picture of your life and the things that matter most to you: faith (in God), family, fantasy and fun.

Here’s wishing you an eternally profitable life.

  12. True talk my friend. Whatever good values and descriptions you stated above are but understatements compared to what I have seen and experienced. You’re a rare gem, the only friend who had ever called me stupid for giving a stupid response to which I’l ever be grateful that I won’t in this life repeat such a stupid act. I can’t say everything now but as I continue to walk this earth with the Godly virtues I’ve learnt from you, I’ll bless the name of the Lord for causing our paths to cross. I HAVE NO REGRETS EVER KNOWING YOU. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU! -I-JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

  13. Sincerely, you should have included the smile. It is deserving of being in a toothpaste ad. And you write beautifully. Thoroughly enjoyed this post

  14. Someone told me about you (Not telling, though you would find out anyway).. Said you are really an ‘Awesome’ personality. I don’t know why I waited till 3am to do this search. From what I read though, ‘He’ is not mistaken.
Kudos to you Darl, hope to read more pieces from you. Ciao.
