June 3, 2012

It’s been a year but I still remember the events of the afternoon of the 3rd of June 2012 very vividly, like it was yesterday. I do not think I will ever forget.

I remember how hopeless and utterly helpless I felt and how it all looked so unreal.
I remember the fear.
I remember thinking about how if anyone was still alive inside that rubble, they might just die because there was no one to save them. And they might have died just from knowing that this is Nigeria and whatever rescue efforts available might be stuck in traffic.

That hopelessness is lethal.

I pray that Nigeria will be saved. I pray that Nigeria will change for the better. I pray that Nigeria will become great again.

The photos I took of the crash site can be viewed here and the video here.

For every family who lost someone(s) in that crash, I pray that the Balm in Gilead will heal your pain, ease your sorrow and help you forgive…
May it be well with us all. Amen.

That we may never forget…
